The Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua is committed to making its website usable by the widest possible audience, regardless of disability, device or connection. This statement sets out what we have done, where we fall short, and how to reach us if something on this site stops you.
Partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA.
“Partially conformant” means that most of the site meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA, but that we cannot yet claim full conformance. We have applied the measures listed below during development and check them as pages change. We have not commissioned an independent audit, and we have not run a formal usability test with disabled participants. We would rather say so plainly than publish a claim we cannot evidence.
Measures applied across the site
Semantic structure
Pages are built from semantic HTML with a single main landmark, an ordered heading hierarchy, and navigation, main and footer regions that assistive technology can jump between.
Keyboard operation
Every interactive control is a real button or link, reachable and operable by keyboard alone. A skip link is the first item in the tab order, and Escape closes the menus, the search panel and the mobile drawer.
Visible focus
A two-tone focus indicator is applied site-wide and is never removed — only restyled — so the focused element is always identifiable on light and dark sections alike.
Reduced motion
The notices ticker and the fade-in animations are disabled for visitors whose system requests reduced motion. No content depends on animation to be understood.
Text alternatives
Informative images carry descriptive alternative text. Icon-only buttons carry accessible names. Decorative imagery is presented so that it is skipped by screen readers.
Colour and contrast
The palette is drawn from the University crest and was chosen for contrast: dark ink on a bone page, and ink on the lime accent rather than white. Colour is never the only means of conveying information — availability, categories and status all carry text labels.
Resizable text
Layouts use relative units and reflow to 320px without horizontal scrolling. Text can be enlarged to 200% in the browser without loss of content or function.
Form labelling
Form fields have persistent visible labels rather than placeholder-only labelling, required fields are marked in text, and validation messages are placed next to the field they describe.
Tested against these combinations.
The site is built on standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript and should work with any assistive technology that supports them. It may not display well in browsers more than three major versions old.
Where this site currently falls short.
We list these openly so that you know what to expect, and so that we can be held to fixing them.
No independent audit has been carried out
The measures described above were applied during development and checked by the team building the site. They have not been verified by an external accessibility auditor or by a formal user test with disabled participants. Until that happens, we describe conformance as partial.
Some documents are not fully tagged
PDF documents published on this site, including the Academic Brief, originate from the offices that issue them and may not carry a full tagged reading order. If you need any published document in an accessible format, ask and we will provide one.
Catalogue search requires JavaScript
The library catalogue and site search filter results in the browser and will not operate with JavaScript disabled. The underlying pages, notices and programme information remain readable without it.
Third-party services
The student portal, the JAMB portal and staff webmail are operated by other organisations. We do not control their accessibility, and their conformance is not covered by this statement.
Older notices
Notices published before the current site was built are re-rendered into the present templates. Tables inside a small number of older notices may still be difficult to follow on a narrow screen.

If any part of this site prevents you from finding what you need, we want to hear about it. Reports from people who use the site are worth more than any checklist.
