The University Library.

The Academic Brief specifies a modern ICT-based library, sited centrally to facilitate access by staff and students, with seating for not less than one third of the full-time student population at any given time. Library services commenced at the takeoff of the University; the main library building is to be completed in Phase 2.

E-library and e-resources

Online books and journals are subscribed to and delivered over the University network, so that resources remain accessible from outside the library building.

Collection development

The collection is being developed towards 1,500,000 volumes and not less than 5,000 journals and periodicals, weighted to the University's clinical and allied health programmes.

Information literacy

Instruction in literature searching, referencing and the evaluation of evidence, delivered in conjunction with academic departments.

Research support

Literature searching and document supply for academic staff and postgraduate researchers, supported by inter-library cooperation.

Study space

Reading rooms and group study rooms, sited centrally in relation to the teaching areas of the University.

Networked from the start

The library shares the internet resources of the University. Cataloguing and circulation are fully digitalised and available on the University network.

Electronic resources are accessed through the University portal.
