Specialist Medical and Health Sciences University in Funtua
The University offers ten NUC-approved undergraduate programmes in medicine, medical rehabilitation and the allied health sciences, with clinical training integrated from the first year of study.

Every academic department of the University is directed towards the preparation of health professionals. This specialisation informs curriculum design, laboratory provision and academic appointments.

Programmes are designed from defined professional competencies in accordance with the Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards, with information and communications technology integrated throughout.
Three research centres
Organised research units in Applied Neurosciences and Neurorehabilitation, Community Health, and Non-Communicable Diseases, funded from a dedicated allocation of the annual recurrent grant.
Entrepreneurial development
The Entrepreneurship Development Centre and the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme prepare graduates for professional practice and enterprise, in accordance with NUC requirements.
Student support services
A Health Centre, counselling and guidance services, accommodation and a Student Affairs Division, each under a designated officer of the University.

The University progressed from establishment to academic activities with the support of the Federal Government, the Katsina State Government and the Funtua community. Its current priorities are the completion of the University Teaching Hospital and the development of its organised research units.

Applied Neurosciences
Research in neuroscience, neurorehabilitation and allied fields. Established in Phase 2 of the University's development.
Community Health
Research in community health, disease surveillance and control. Established in Phase 2 of the University's development.
Non-Communicable Diseases
Research into non-communicable diseases in Nigeria and in Africa. Established in Phase 1 of the University's development.

FUMHSF Announces Minimum UTME Cut-Off Marks for 2026/2027 Admissions
The University has approved the minimum UTME scores for admission into its undergraduate programmes for 2026/2027. MBBS requires 220, Nursing Science 200, and other programmes 170–180.
Eid-ul-Fitr (Sallah) Break for Students
All students are to proceed on Eid-ul-Fitr (Sallah) break from Saturday, 14th March to Sunday, 29th March, 2026. Lectures resume on Monday, 30th March, 2026.
Senate Approves Academic Calendar for 2025/2026 Session
The University Senate has approved the academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session. First Semester lectures begin 23rd February 2026 and the session concludes in January 2027.
